About the style
Light, shadow and patience.
Realism is built from smooth gradients rather than outlines. The artist layers shading slowly to create volume, which is why this style needs enough size to hold its detail.
Good reference photos make a big difference. Sharp, well-lit images help the artist understand form and light before the design is drawn.

Good to know
Realism tattoo questions.
How big should a realism tattoo be?
Realism needs room for its shading, so it usually works best from palm size upwards. We will suggest a size that keeps the detail readable.
Black and grey or colour realism?
Most of our realism work is black and grey. If you want colour, tell us when you send your references so we can discuss it.
What reference photos should I send?
Sharp, high-resolution images with clear light and shadow work best. Avoid tiny screenshots or heavily filtered photos.
Can a large realism piece be done in one day?
Smaller pieces often can. Larger work may need more than one session. Share your travel dates and we will plan around them.
